Being a cyberpunk reader for some 12 years or so it may seem strange that Tad Williams Otherland series occur on my reading list just now. This may be due to the fact that I have placed Williams in the fantasy opera genre after not managing to get through Memory, Sorrow and Thorn properly. Otherland may not introduce any new exciting features to the scinec fiction scene but manages to blend quite a few concepts to an interesting and enjoyable mix. This said after reading just the first book (City of Golden Shadow) in the serie. A coworker claims that the second volume is so boring that you can just skip it and go right to the third..... It is hard to behave like that though. While making my mind up I am reading the first part of Peter F. Hamiltons Night's Dawn Trilogy: The Reality Dysfunction. After the first 100 pages out of 1400 or so it seems really promising.
